Heart in Business Limited
Andrew is an entrepreneur, the owner of Thornton’s Budgens (a supermarket in North London) and the founder of Heart in Business Limited
His life purpose is to put the Heart back into Business and encourage the shift from an obsession with profit, towards a business world where people and our planet are put first. He has applied these principles to Thornton’s Budgens – see what the Huffington Post had to say about his approach.
He is currently writing the book “Putting the Heart back into Business” and his aim is to build a network of heartful businesses.
Andrew was a founder director of social enterprises “The People’s Supermarket” and “Food from the Sky”, founded and ran the retail consultancy SRCG, is an Ambassador for Embercombe, the sustainability centre in Devon and is a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Commerce and Industry. He lives in London with his partner and stepdaughter, and has two (growing up!) sons. Andrew grew up in Dublin and is a graduate of University College Dublin, doing both a B.Comm and an MBS.
Company Profile: Putting the Heart back into Business is the life purpose of our founding partners and it’s why we exist as an organisation – our purpose is: Heart in Business Limited will enable companies to put people and our planet first, trusting that profit will follow. We at Heart in Business Limited inspire and advise companies who want to put the heart first, and make that transition from being focused on short-term profits towards putting people and our planet first. Our approach involves putting the heart at the centre of the organisation and leads to more fulfilled employees, happier customers, better communities and less harm to the environment. As compared to the old profit focused approach, this in the long-term is far more sustainable and generates greater profits.
This workshop will share the power of doing business with a heart and how this helps create more sustainable and higher long term shareholder value. It will combine the case study of Thornton’s Budgens, a supermarket in North London that is run ‘heartfully’ with practical sessions to help you have a more fulfilling working life through being in flow (in flow being defined as spending most of your time doing what you are passionate about – what you love and are good at).
It will help you see why being in flow in life is so much more fulfilling and how to find your ikigai (Japanese for ‘the reason to get up in the morning’). Andrew will share how he got to the point of realising his life purpose was to put the Heart back into Business, and how he has used this in his supermarket Thornton’s Budgens and the impact this can have on people and the energy of the company.
Eudora will help you come away with 3 things that you can do differently in your lives in the next 6 weeks to help you get more in-flow.
