Mark is a Leadership Consultant who has over 30 years experience of working as a leader or working with leaders in businesses big and small.
He cares deeply about how we live and work together and too often meets powerless victims of other people, of poor management or poor leadership, and people who have just given up. He believes there is a way for us to take far more control of our lives, to experience real inner growth and at the same time achieve outstanding business results and growth too.
We spend an increasing number of hours at work. Yet only 17% of the UK’s working population answer “Yes” to the question “Are you engaged at work?”. 10 million people say they are “actively disengaged,” unhappy and unproductive at work and liable to spread that negativity to coworkers.
The majority of large corporations fail to achieve even modest growth in sales and revenue, despite having detailed strategic plans with much higher targets. Plans, which 95% of their employees say they are unaware of, or do not understand.
And yet despite this, today we know more about what motivates us, drives us, connects us to our work and inspires us than ever before.
So how do we tend to go about tackling these contradictions?
We still can find fully committed, fully engaged, happy workers who bring all of themselves to their work, enjoy the ride and achieve fantastic results? Who are they? Often, small business owners and entrepreneurs who work in one or two employee companies. Who leads them, inspires them, motivates them, rewards and recognises them? They do it themselves.
This talk explores the difficulties of how we currently approach leadership and the different ideas and opportunities that can help us discover a new way to release our true potential.
